«KL SANDEFJORD» LAUNCHED IN ROMANIA

The new build AHTS hull «KL Sandefjord» is launched.

OSM is entrusted the building supervision of all K Line Offshore’s new build vessels. A total of 6 vessels, two large AHTS (Anchor Handling Supply Vessels) and four PSV (Platform Supply Vessels) are currently under construction in Romania. The AHTS hulls are being constructed at STX Norway Offshore AS, Tulcea in Romania.

The first hull, «KL Sandefjord», was launched on February 27th. After a short ceremony with speeches from the yard management, the ribbon was cut and the champagne bottle was broken amidships on the port side. Thereafter the syncrolift was lowered and the ship was afloat.

«KL Sandefjord» was towed by shipyard tugs to a position alongside aft of the tug «Pegasus». «Pegasus» was built 2009 and has a bollard pull of 100T and will perform the ocean towage to Norway. Towing is scheduled to commence March 1st.

Final outfitting will take place at STX Norway Offshore Langsten in Tomrefjord close to Ålesund. Final delivery is scheduled for mid December 2010.
