Destined for high standards

Viking Destiny joins elite class of vessels after receiving recognition by the United States Coast Guard for remarkable quality standards

The vehicles carrier, Viking Destiny, managed by OSM Ship Management in Singapore, is the second vessel to achieve the prestigious Qualship21 award in the Pure Car Truck Carriers fleet (PCTC), following in the footsteps of the Glovis Composer listed into the Qualship-program in 2016.

The United States Coast Guard allows for simplified inspections onboard the vessels awarded the Qualship status as these vessels are considered “pre-approved” for US waters. Steffen Tunge, Managing Director for OSM Ship Management, Singapore, explains that this is a sign of quality and of the US Coast Guard’s confidence that OSM is doing a good job.

“The Coast Guard is basically telling you that they are not going to target the vessel next time you come to the United States” Tunge says.

The US Coastguard congratulated OSM with the achievement and expressed their admiration towards OSM’s commitment to quality in their accreditation notice:

“Less than 10 percent of all foreign-flagged ships that operate in the United States meet the eligibility requirements of this program, putting your qualified vessels in an elite class. This is a remarkable accomplishment and I applaud the efforts of your organization and the master and crew of the qualified vessels for setting such a high standard of excellence.”
