OSM has signed contract with Remora for full technical and crew management of DP HiLoad No1.
- We are proud to announce that OSM has signed contract with Remora for full technical and crew management of DP HiLoad No1, says Managing Director for OSM Offshore Morten Mellerud.
The last years, OSM has provided crew management and technical support; assisting Remora during the construction phase and finally the testing and commissioning.
- The new HiLoad units latest sea trial in open waters and rough weather conditions in the Skagerrak ocean between Norway and Denmark was a success, and our crew did a good job in handling the unit, says Morten Mellerud.
The sea trial was the last in a series of trials and was closely watched by representatives from the oil major Petrobras. After several years of building, testing and telling the market and the world about the unique unit it is now ready for assignement.
The HiLoad concept is an innovative utilization of basic laws of nature. The ballasting system combined with a large square area of friction rubber enables the HiLoad unit to replace the water pressure on the tanker hull with no mechanical connection - resulting in a friction force 20 times larger than needed to keep a tanker vessel in position in rough sea.
