OSM Maritime Group has been awarded the full technical management for MV “King Jacob”, a 1100 TEU containership. The ship will be managed by our ship management office in Hamburg. The appointment is an extension of an already long lasting cooperation between König & Cie and OSM Maritime Group.
Taking over a 1100 TEU containership represents a new era for the Hamburg office as this is the first container vessel attended to. With container experience readily available amongst the staff at our Hamburg office, with a proper preparation and by following the detailed QA process for a vessel take-over the actual event went as smooth as it could get. “It was an excellent test of the existing QA processes. But mainly thanks to excellent teamwork between the various OSM offices, namely OSM Manila for crewing and purchasing as well as OSM’s Hamburg based offices, owners, the crew, the class societies, the flag state and local agents, it resulted in a smooth and trouble-free take-over. Our thanks go to all involved.”, says Capt. Matthias Imrecke, Managing Director of OSM Ship Management GmbH in Hamburg.
“King Jacob” is commercially managed by OSM Shipping GmbH & Co. KG, a company formed in Hamburg especially for operational and commercial activities of ships like the “King Jacob”. “King Jacob” (formerly “Stadt Düsseldorf”) is a 1998, Germany built container vessel with an intake of 1102 TEU, flying the flag of Antigua & Barbuda.
