On Wednesday 05th February 2014 the containervessel “RT Aegir” ( formerly “Austria”) joined the fleet managed from the OSM Hamburg office.
The take-over took place in the port of Algeciras, the charterer’s hub port, where she discharged containers loaded in West-Africa.
The short port rotation foreseen in this Southern Spanish port was adding one challenge to the take-over process, the name and flag change from Liberia to Marshall Islands another. A take-over with the least disruption for the schedule of the vessel was only possible because of a detailed take-over process plan and teamwork amongst all concerned.
For OSM Ship Management GmbH, Hamburg this is yet another containership in the slowly but steady growing fleet and it manifests the relationship with the König & Cie Group which owns and manages the RT Aegir as well as seven other vessels of the OSM Hamburg fleet.
The vessel is commercially managed by OSM Shipping GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture between König and OSM, attending to chartering and postfixture activities in the container trade.
The “RT Aegir”, built in 1997 at German Kvaerner Warnow Yard, can carry 2468 TEU out of which 320 units can be reefer container. The vessel is 208 m long, has a beam of 30m and a design draft of 16,4m. The deadweight is 34015 t.
